Welcome to Villa Kula.
Our passion is travelling the world to find beautiful, unique furniture and objets d'art that create joy.
Our signature style is luxury, with a touch of whimsy. We delight in bringing quirky and unconventional design into our projects through art, sculpture and lighting.
As Designers and Owners of an exquisite retail store in Perth, our goal is to source, manufacture and sell sublime quality furniture and effects, that are unfailingly different.
We work closely with local and international artisans to create our very own unique offering of furniture and homewares.
Our delightful custom made sculptures evoke happiness within, whilst adding artistic splendour to your home or commercial space.
Karl and I are avid surfers and lovers of global architecture and design. To date we have travelled to over 40 countries together all the time taking inspiration from our surroundings and translating this into our design projects.
Our interior design repertoire extends to refurbishing some of the world’s most celebrated luxury yachts, numerous architectural residences in New Zealand and Australia, a Qatari Royal villa in Doha, two luxury resort pool sides at the award-winning Cable Beach Resort & Spa and most recently an 18 month Californian coastal inspired ocean front penthouse.
We are passionate about great design and love helping our clients find unbridled joy in their surroundings.
We began our journey together in the breathtaking Balearic Islands off eastern Spain working on board a luxury charter yacht.
We spent close to a decade on the super yacht circuit, enduring endless months in shipyards overseeing interior refits in Italy, France and Spain then finally finishing our tenure at sea in Monaco on board the epic 90m S/Y Athena, the largest private sailing yacht at the time, owned by US tech Billionaire Jim Clark.
We joined Athena in Holland when she was a mere shell and went on to win the prestigious Show Boats International Award in Monte Carlo for the best interior sailing yacht, the year we delivered her.
At the time of the Yacht’s launch in Monaco we were simultaneously responsible for producing 200 pages of styled interiors alongside the acclaimed National Geographic photographer Louie Psihoyos for the hard-cover coffee table book, Athena.
In 2008 we moved to Perth. Cue Villa Kula Events, a luxury event production company incorporating Royal canvas villas and designer furnishings. Our event design arm successfully went on to produce hundreds of exclusive corporate event landscapes, luxury brand product launches & A-list weddings for clients spanning from Monaco to St Barth’s to New Zealand & the outback of Western Australia.
Our design team set the bar high and after fifteen successful years in production we had come full circle.
In an organic way we moved back into full time interior design for residential and commercial projects.
Our joys in life include travel, hanging out with our two beautiful dogs, 'Lois and Finch' and working. We love what we do.
Our clients' interior design projects, our studio and retail space is our 'passion for life'.
