We work with the best in the industry in architecture, building, cabinetry, fabrication, landscaping, and furnishings which allows us to creatively design well thought out, spatially exquisite interiors for new build private homes, renovations, and commercial projects.
We promise to bring your ideas to life with savvy, original design of the utmost quality, all the while ensuring we meet your budget and timeline requirements.

Our design studio/furniture showroom is a stunning converted warehouse in leafy Subiaco. It’s an inspiring, 400m2 open plan space that people instantly feel a connection with.
We understand that great design is the result of collaborating closely with our clients. Getting to know what you really want takes sincerity, innovative thinking, and experience. We’ve created an environment where you can comfortably relax, enjoy a barista made coffee in one of our delicious lounge pods and talk openly about what you want from your design project.

Whether you’re moving into a new build, renovating the family home, or downsizing into an apartment (where none of your existing furniture will fit) styling and furnishing your new home can be an overwhelming task.
That’s where we step in.
We come into the picture pre or post move in to focus on bringing all the elements of your rooms together. Generally speaking, interior decorating requires no structural change, plumbing or wiring. It’s just a straightforward process of us helping you to find the most aesthetically beautiful selections for your home.
We take the gravity of the situation off you and guide you through the process by assisting you with:
We work closely with you to create a single room or entire home that is a cohesive beautiful space, reflective of you and your family.
Our hourly rate is $130+GST and there is no minimum spend. You only pay for the hours that you need our services.

Every interior design project is different and can range from a single room to an entire home fit out. For this reason, we break the process down into stages allowing our clients to select the services they wish to sign on for.
Initial Consultation
Your initial 45-minute consultation with us at our Subiaco Design Studio is free.
During this meeting we encourage you to bring along imagery, inspo boards even floor plans and be ready to ask us as many questions as you like around the process. It’s a discovery session of sorts, where we work out if our ideas and ethos align with yours.
Second Consultation / Defining the Scope of Work
Our second meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know each other even better. We want to understand more clearly how you and your family live in your space and what your expectations of the project are. We ask many questions and draft a basic outline of the scope of work.
We discuss your budget and formulate a wish list, prioritising your most important outcomes. You’re welcome to ask us further questions as it’s imperative, we feel comfortable working together from the start of the creative process.
Following on from our consultation phase and if in agreement to work together, we will provide you with our Design Service Proposal and Scope of Work. This document outlines the estimated time to complete your design project, make selections, sketch floor plans, source and procure items.
Our fee for the second consultation is $250 + GST and generally takes 2-3 hours.
Travel outside metro area will incur a further fee.
Design Phase
On acceptance of our Design Service Agreement and based on what we've learned about your architectural plans and lifestyle we begin to develop your one-of-a-kind schematic design.
This is the creative part of the process where we work on a detailed room by room visual story board of how we envision your new home to look including scale floor plans, paint finishes, floor coverings, fixtures, fittings and furniture selections.
We work alongside our team of professional architects, builders, and cabinet makers to design your dream custom kitchen, laundry and bathrooms. Our services even extend to customising furniture.
We generally work by the hour and quote up front, so our clients know how long (and how much) this stage of the process is going to cost. In some instances, we provide you with a fixed cost for this phase.
On completion of the design phase we plan an exciting visual presentation at our studio or your residence to go through the project room by room to make final decisions on layout, furniture and fittings.
Procurement
Once everything is officially signed off with you, we move ahead with the procurement phase. We look after the sourcing, ordering, freight and storage (if required) of all of your furniture and effects to ensure a seamless installation of your products for when the time comes to move in.
Project Management
During this phase we oversee all our trades, whilst also managing the build timeline and budget. We will update you regularly with progress reports so that you are always up to speed with how the project is moving.
Delivery & Handover
It's finally here. The hand over and big reveal.
At VK we pride ourselves on our meticulous 'white glove' approach to every detail.
On this day we bring all the beautiful elements together. We oversee the placement of furniture, the presentation of every room and create all those finishing touches that make a home look and feel like a magazine cover!
On handover day we have everything you can imagine in place. Lights on, fresh flowers, the chilled champagne and canapés are of course, on us. On this celebrated day we hand over the keys to your extraordinary new home ready for you to move in and enjoy living.
Fee Structure
The most asked question we hear is “How much does an interior design project cost?” This is tricky to answer, simply because every client’s needs and outcomes are completely different. For most stages of the process we charge an hourly rate of $130 per hour + GST. All stages are estimated up front in your Design Service Proposal and are capped at a maximum of hours to be applied for each stage, so that you are always aware of the fees. If project hours go over the estimated allocated time, we will let you know in advance.

You have outgrown your family home or it’s feeling tired and outdated. You love your neighbourhood and the street you live in, and you don’t see the benefits of moving. However, the idea of renovating is terrifying.
We get it.
It takes a host of master craftsmen to pull off a great renovation. With the right team of people guiding you through the process however, the experience can be life-changing for all the right reasons.
We take the stress out of the process by managing everything, so that you only make the decisions around the fun stuff!
We work with industry leaders in architecture, building, cabinetry and fabrication to allow us to creatively design well thought out, spatially considered renovations.
We start with drawing up a design brief for the architects and builders and document every detail, from floor coverings and paint finishes to doors and windows, fixtures, fittings down to the light switches and GPO’s. We take care of the small details and ensure the process is fun and enjoyable for our clients.
Our process includes:
Projects costs for renovations vary and are priced upon application.
We work on small to large scale commercial design projects.
Our commercial design repertoire extends to:
We spent close to a decade on the luxury charter yacht circuit, enduring endless months in shipyards overseeing interior refits in Italy, France and Spain then finally finishing our tenure in Monaco on board the epic 90m S/Y Athena, where we won the Show Boats International Award for the best interior sailing yacht, the year we delivered her.
When it comes to commercial design, we love to think out of the box to create genuine wow factor whilst still having huge consideration for the space’s flow and functionality.

The Villa Kula team would love to be a part of your next design project. Reach out to us and we will be in touch.
